 hello,

I´d like to update Painter X to X.1 but the installation allways stops with the message "The English or Japanese version of Painter X cannot be found. The patch will now exit". I tried to reinstall but still no success. I think i have the german/france version of Painter X, at least those are the only two options i saw when i reinstalled it, though i can´t find a specific german/france patch, the only one i found sofar is the one that doesn´t work for me (http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Content/1157481830100?pid=1182351468110#de).

what am i doing wrong?

i use: windows XP service pack 2, Core 2  1,86 GHz, 2 GB ram, GeForce 7650 GS

I can't help you with this one, but you've posted in the right forum. Maybe tomorrow when Corel folks are back to work one of them can give you a solution.

If you have a German or French version of Painter X, you don't need the patch.  It is already included in your version :)

are you 100% sure that the german/france version is already updated to X.1? if i start Painter X a loading window appears where i could ready the number 10.0.053, looks like a version number to me.

i was hoping the update would fix some of the bugs, especial the screen refresh bug.

Yes, I'm positive.  We only needed to release the patch for English and Japanese.  The fixes were incorporated into the original release for French, German, and Italian.

I'm using Painter X.1 (version 10.1.0.53) in WinXP Home SP2 and the screen refresh problems were only partially fixed with the Painter X.1 Update. I still experience them but not quite as much or as severely as with Painter X.

Again, in case I said this already, it's most often when I have other programs running that the most severe screen refresh issues arise. It's not a total cure to have other programs closed while running Painter X.1 but it does help some.

I hope I can jump in here with sort of the same question. I've also been trying to update to X.1 but have been getting an error message. I eventually figured out that it was probably because I had already done the patch a while back but after seeing this thread, I'm really not sure. Jinny, is your latest version number actually 10.1.0.53 or is that a typo at the end because mine is 10.1.0.52. If yours is not a typo, then do I have the X.1 update or not?? My suspicion is that I do and that I need to stay off the coffee. Thanks, Jacques

The version numbers differ between Mac and PC.  On PC, the latest version number is 10.1.0.53.  On the Mac, it's 10.1.0.52.

Yes, it's 10.1.0.53, Painter X with the Painter X.1 Update installed. Some places on my system it says 10.1.053 but it's the same version.
